Home Training

People do have problems with their dogs that occasionally need to be dealt with in their own home, or they may simply prefer to have their dog obedience-trained at home rather than attend a group training class each week.
If you have a problem with your dog, the NDTF have trainers who will come to your home and assist you in solving it. The advantage of private obedience lessons in the home is mainly the individual attention you and your dog receive from a qualified trainer.
You may already attend weekly group lessons but feel that you and your dog just aren't getting where you want to go quickly enough. Private lessons will certainly hasten the training process. Your personal trainer will be able to focus on you and your dog without the distraction of other clients.
A new puppy in the home can cause some stress as well as a lot of joy. Please contact us if you would like helpful advice on settling your new friend in at home. Our trainers can help you with diet, exercise, housetraining and the very important aspect of independence training.
Some behavioural problems around the home cannot be addressed outside of this enviroment. People often say the dog is fine when it is out but becomes aggressive towards visitors or a particular family member.
There is an endless list of behavioural problems which you may need help with. These may include digging, pulling washing from the line, excessive barking or destruction of furniture or other items inside and outside the house.
Perhaps you have found your new companion, recently rescued by you from an animal shelter, is fearful or not properly housetrained; we can put you in touch with the people who specialise in these areas and they will be happy to help you.
Your dog may have problems adjusting to a new baby or partner in the house. The introduction of a new member to the family can sometimes be accepted quite readily by the resident canine but in other cases care needs to be taken to habituate the dog to the new situation.
There are many cases of 2 dogs who have previously lived together peaceful and then they suddenly start fighting with each other for no apparent reason. There is always a reason for this behaviour and a qualified behaviour consultant and trainer will be able to 'read' the problem and show you how to alleviate and / or manage the problem.
The list of problems which can be successfully managed at home is endless and there are times when the home visit is the only way to resolve issues. If you have a concern with your dog around the house, contact us and we will be able to put you in touch with qualified behaviourists and trainers who will make your life less stressful or simply speed up the obedience training of your dog.
Some behavioural problems around the home cannot be addressed outside of this environment.
