Whether your goal is to better understand your own dog, develop professional training skills, or explore opportunities within the dog industry, this course combines modern learning with hands-on experience to help you achieve your goals.

Designed around contemporary training practices and animal welfare principles, the program equips you with the knowledge to assess behaviour, solve common training challenges, and build stronger relationships between dogs and their owners.

A Balanced Approach

At NDTF, we believe there is no single approach that suits every dog or every situation.

Our training philosophy combines the strengths of:

  • Balanced Training
  • Holistic Training
  • LIMA (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive)

This balanced approach enables students to:

  • Develop a sound understanding of canine learning and behavioural psychology.
  • Apply ethical and effective behaviour modification techniques.
  • Select appropriate training strategies based on each individual dog.
  • Promote positive welfare outcomes by reducing fear, stress, and aggression.
  • Build confident, practical decision-making skills when working with dogs and their owners.
  • By understanding multiple evidence-based approaches, graduates are equipped to make informed decisions while maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare.

Practical Learning Designed for the Real World

This course has been designed to reflect the knowledge, skills, and expectations oftoday's dog training industry. Each module combines theory with practical application, allowing you to build confidence while developing the skills required to work with dogs in real-life situations.

Throughout the course, you will participate in a variety of learning activities, including:

  • Interactive quizzes
  • Applied knowledge activities

These activities are designed to strengthen your understanding of canine behaviour, learning theory, welfare, training methodologies, and professional handling techniques.

Learn by Doing

At NDTF, we believe practical experience is one of the most valuable ways to develop your skills. Throughout the program, you'll work through realistic training scenarios, behavioural assessments, and structured practical exercises that reflect the work undertaken by professional dog trainers.

You'll develop the confidence to observe behaviour, assess training needs, apply appropriate techniques, and evaluate training outcomes, helping you build practical skills that can be applied in everyday training environments.
